the lexis of the cover uses words like "junkie" , "punk" and "killer" overall it uses words that connotate crime
drugs and street life which are all things that are highly related to to the rock genre but not the pop genre (which is what Madonna is from) so using a lexis in conjunction with the colour pallet. like this can get the average mojo fan interested in someone like Madonna.
The colour pallet uses the colours black, white, red and blue. The red fits in with the lexis because of it's connotation of blood.
Thr black and white are colours that are normally found in rock and would attract someone like the typical mojo reader
The shot type is a close up shot
The star of the cover is Madonna who is pop artist despite this she hasn't been presented how pop artists are normally being shown as more like a rock artist this is so the magazine still appeals to mojo's normally audiences
The red connotes blood??? Really? Bit of a leap here. Nothing to do with matching codes and conventions of a rock magazine?
ReplyDeleteYou have made some good points but you need to tie it all to what ewe know about MOJO, it's ideology and their TA.
